Herringbone in a Colne property

Herringbone is worth knowing about if you live in one of Colne’s older properties. Straight-plank flooring can look oddly modern in a house with period proportions, where a herringbone pattern sits far more comfortably. It takes longer to fit and it uses more material because of the cutting, so it costs more, but in the right room it changes the whole character of the space.
If you are weighing it up, come and look at it laid out rather than judging from a photograph. The pattern reads completely differently at floor scale.
